The Regulatory World of Automotive
Bryant Walker Smith, co-director of the University of Michigan Project on Law and Mobility
Bryant Walker Smith is an associate professor in the School of Law and (by courtesy) the School of Engineering at the University of South Carolina as well as an affiliate scholarat the Center for Internet and Society at Stanford Law School. Trained as a lawyer and an engineer, Bryant advises cities, states, countries, and the United Nations on emerging transport technologies.
Michael Olechiw, US Environmental Protection Agency
Michael Olechiw is the Director of the Light-duty Vehicle and Small Engine Center of the EPA. He is responsible for developing greenhouse gas and criteria pollutant regulations for light-duty vehicles and small engines used in mobile applications.
John Bozzella, Alliance for Automotive Innovation, President and OICA President
John Bozzella, a veteran auto industry executive, is president and CEO of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation (Auto Innovators). From 2014 until the establishment of Auto Innovators in January 2020, he served as president and CEO of the Association of Global Automakers, the trade association whose members included the U.S operations of international automobile and light-duty truck manufacturers that sold products in the United States. Since November 2021 he also serves as president of the OICA.

Kristin Dziczek, Policy Advisor, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago
Kristin Dziczek is a policy advisor in the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago’s research, policy, and public engagement division. Her research focuses on the economic impacts of the transition to low-carbon and automated transportation.
Dziczek served as the senior vice president of research at the non-profit Center for Automotive Research (CAR) from 2005-2022. Before that, she was the associate director of the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center and worked for the U.S. Congress, International Union UAW, and General Motors Corporation. -

Frank Abkenar is Director, Global ICE Propulsion and Thermal Systems and leads all ICE propulsions and thermal systems hardware development and systems integration across Ford’s global engineering centers. Mr. Abkenar has held several positions within Product Development, Manufacturing, and Strategic Planning including several global leadership roles. In his previous position, he was Director, Global Engine Engineering responsible for design and development of all gasoline and diesel engines across the globe.
