After 2008, many industries suffered major changes , the auto industry was no exception , one of the countries that went through a process of modification in structure was Canada , major automotive companies manufacturing motor vehicles made major changes , which caused a restructuring of its production plant , some plants were closed , others reduced their size , through processes using only platforms or closing shifts or changing production platforms. In this paper a SWOT analysis of the country as automotive manufacturing is performed. A country that exports most of its auto -thirds of production and 80% of it is addressed to the United States. Vehicles produced in Canada the big 3 American GM, Ford and Chrysler, as well as two of the major Asian Toyota and Honda , with a total absence of European automakers . A comparative analysis of growth or decline in volumes of these automotive companies in the countries of the Free Trade in North America is done . Canadian Auto production also satisfies domestic demand by 70 % which tends to decrease in the following years .
