Gerpisa colloquium, Detroit (2022)Keywords:
the new working conditions in a digitalized factoryAbstract:
The paper firstly will describe the layout and the MES of the new digitalised assembly line of the Urus car by the Lamborghini plant in Italy. Secondly, it will analyse the consequences on the working conditions utilising the interviews realised by our field research in 2018.
The Urus assembly line is a brand-new kind based on an MES (Manufacturing Execution System) type computer system that connects all assembly operations through a dedicated P-domain network. The information technology department of Lamborghini designed the MES. There is no sliding track or floor that moves, but there are AGVs, that is, robotic platforms that shift without being anchored to the floor.
This new system profoundly changed the working environment, procedures, conditions, and the needed competencies.
